Volunteer Opportunities

Agahozo-Shalom Volunteer Program (Sponsored by The JDC Jewish Service Corps)

Use your skills and commitment to help a community overseas. The JDC Jewish Service Corps sends self-starting, creative professionals and college graduates to work and live in communities in which JDC is working on non-sectarian projects around the world for one year placements. The Rwanda volunteer will work for the Agahozo-Shalom Youth Village, a special project of JDC's non-sectarian efforts is dedicated to helping many of whom survived the Rwandan genocide by providing a protected residential environment and a high school for 500 Rwandan orphans. The work includes education, community outreach and development, and welfare/relief projects. JDC provides housing, a monthly stipend, health insurance, and covers all work related expenses.

Employment Opportunities

The ASYV is currently searching for an Interim Director. Living in Rwanda and reporting to the Executive Director, the Interim Director is the custodian of the Agahozo-Shalom educational philosophy and guiding principles. The Interim Director serves as a role model for the Village community in terms of its core values, culture and goals. His/her background and education, professional experience, personality, world view, supervisory approach and managerial skills will shape the path and achievements of the Village. The Interim Director is responsible for the performance and the wellbeing of the Village staff and kids as well as the general daily functioning of the Village and its continued success as a solution to caring for orphans and vulnerable children in Rwanda and around the world.
